Year 4
Welcome to Year 4 at The Grove Junior School
Year 4 is a year of growing independence, confidence, and responsibility. Children continue to build on their learning from Year 3 while embracing new challenges across a broad and engaging curriculum. Each day begins with a soft start between 8:40 and 8:50am, helping pupils settle calmly into their learning. The school day ends at 3:15pm, and communication with teachers is encouraged via class email or the school office.
Children enjoy a wide range of subjects including English, maths, science, history, geography, art, PE, computing, music, French, and PSHE. Swimming is a highlight of the term, taking place every Thursday, and PE lessons are held on Wednesdays. Pupils are expected to come prepared with labelled equipment, including a pencil case, water bottle, and rain jacket. Homework includes weekly spelling, reading, and maths tasks through platforms like Mathletics and TT Rockstars, with reading records checked weekly. We encourage regular reading at home and welcome healthy snacks for break times. Year 4 is a time for developing resilience, teamwork, and a love of learning. We look forward to a fun and fulfilling year ahead.
