Year 3

Welcome to Year 3 at The Grove Junior School

Year 3 is a special and exciting time as children begin their journey into Key Stage 2. At The Grove, we focus on helping pupils settle in smoothly, build independence, and develop a love of learning. Each day begins with a soft start between 8:40 and 8:50am, allowing children to ease into the school day in a calm and relaxed way. Our classrooms are welcoming and structured to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Children enjoy a broad curriculum covering subjects such as English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Art, PE, Computing, Music, French, and PSHE. Weekly homework includes spelling, reading, and maths activities through Mathletics and TT Rockstars. Pupils are encouraged to read regularly at home and borrow books from our school library. We also promote responsibility by asking children to bring their own pencil cases, water bottles, and rain jackets daily. Year 3 is a time for growing confidence, building friendships, and embracing new challenges. We’re committed to making it a fun and fulfilling year for every child.

PE days – children come to school in their PE kits

It's Muddy Season! Please remember to send a spare pair of shoes to school. The children can keep them in school if they like but they need a spare pair to change into on PE days so we don't track too much mud into school. Thank you.
