Clubs
Throughout the year, our teacher-led after-school clubs offer a fantastic opportunity for children to explore a wide variety of interests in a fun and supportive environment. Clubs are free and rotate every half-term, ensuring fresh experiences and giving as many pupils as possible the chance to take part. From sports and music to design technology and creative activities, there's something for everyone. These sessions help children build confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy time with friends beyond the school day.
Choir
Each term, Miss Bunce and Mrs Harrison run a well-attended choir. In the Autumn term, the Year 5 and 6 Young Voices choir get ready to perform at the London O2 Arena in January. There is also a Y6 Rotary Carol Concert choir that rehearse at lunchtimes.
In the build-up to Christmas, there is a Year 3 and 4 choir that then join the Year 5 and 6 choir for the local Southdown Lights Up event. The children have the opportunity to create lanterns for the popular lantern walk.
In the Spring and Summer term, there are more relaxed singing clubs run for all age groups. Often, we are asked to perform for local community events such as Harpenden Trust Senior Coffee Mornings and the hugely popular PTA Summer Festival.

Library Club
Last year, a group of children attended a club to help kit out our lovely new library. They helped organise the shelves, created systems for checking in and checking out books as well as decorated the beautiful space. Reading is such an enjoyable foundation of learning and it was lovely to see our children prioritising the library.

Sport
Mr Nunes and Mr Welch offer a wide range of sports clubs throughout the year, catering to children of all ages and abilities. Their aim is to provide inclusive opportunities, whether for those who simply want to enjoy being active or for those with a competitive edge. Some clubs serve as preparation for upcoming tournaments, such as tag rugby or athletics, while others focus on fun and exploration, introducing pupils to new activities like bocce or orienteering.

Music
Each year, a variety of music clubs are offered to enrich children’s enjoyment and engagement with music. These include opportunities to learn new instruments such as the ukulele or recorder. For those already learning an orchestral instrument and working towards Grade 1 or above, Mrs Bull runs a school orchestra that they are welcome to join.

Design and Technology
Our Design and Technology clubs offer children the chance to explore creativity through hands-on activities such as origami, cookery, and textiles. These clubs are designed to be fun, practical, and inspiring, allowing pupils to develop new skills and take pride in their creations. Children usually bring a small monetary contribution to help cover the cost of resources—and best of all, they get to take home something exciting that they've made themselves!

Home Learning
Throughout the year, the school offers a weekly home learning club for children who may struggle to complete their home learning. This could be due to limited access to technology or other family pressures. It is led by our staff and gives those children the opportunity to be supported by teachers. Attendance at the club is by invitation only so if you feel your child would benefit from this please speak to your child’s class teacher.
